101 Dalmatians Costume and Makeup Ideas

Did you know that Disney's animated hit movie One Hundred and One Dalmatians was adapted from a novel written in 1956 by Dodie Smith? And Dodie was the owner of her very own Dalmatians of which she had nine.

The film was first released to movie theaters in 1961. One of the most popular remakes, 101 Dalmatians and its sequel 102 Dalmatians, starred Glen Close as Cruella de Vil.

Cruela de Vil is the movie's wealthy villain and she chases the litter of dalmatians because she wants to turn the puppy's into soft and luxurious fur coats!

One of the most distinctive characteristics you need to capture when dressing up as Cruella is her hair. She loves the colors black and white and has her hair colored half white and half jet black. You can easily accomplish this with a black and white wig or by coloring your own hair.

You beasts! But I'm not beaten yet. You've won the battle, but I'm about to win the wardrobe. My spotty puppy coat is in plain sight and leaving tracks. In a moment I'll have what I came for, while all of you will end up as sausage meat, alone on some sad, plastic plate. Dead and meaty and red. No friends, no family, no pulse. Just slapped between two buns, smothered in onions, with fries on the side. Cruella De Vil has the last laugh!
